There is no joy in Mudville

I have avoided writing about my beloved Cubbies all summer. Nothing. Nada. If there was anything, it was in obtuse language. I am so superstitious about my favorite team that I don’t discuss them. I’d check their record in the sports section, nod and smile, and move about my day. Not.A.Freaking.Word.

Ahem…

FAT LOT OF GOOD IT DID ME THEY ROLLED OVER AND DIED IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE FREAKING PLAYOFF WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FRAK?????

There’s always next year…sigh…

  1. I understand your pain, for I am a Houston sports fan. It’s never meant to be for us. Unless you like soccer, then you can have some solace.

Do you know that the Astros actually lost two world series games in one day? Nobody can “top” that one.

  2. As a Cardinals fan, I normally couldn’t care less, but since I live in Illinois and the Cards were out of the race anyway, I wanted to see the Cubbies make it.

    KEEP BELIEVING

  3. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I can assure you that we understand. The past few years have been really difficult for us culturally. We are accustomed to being the supporters of losers. The Pats didn’t win for 39 years, the Red Sox went 86 years between championships, I can’t remember when the Bruins last won – I think Bobby Orr might have still been playing, and the Celtics this year were a highlight after a 20-year drought. Trust me, we feel your pain. Keep the faith. It will come. A team of misfits and nobodys seems to help.

  4. Ohh, what a nightmare!! I got excited when I heard they were in the playoffs, but then, like you said, what the absolute freak???

  5. WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FRAK?????

    ha ha ha

One of these days I’m going to develope a dictionary with all your words!

Okay, when you get a chance…check out how I solved my little problem last night. I might be divorced by this afternooon when my husband gets home from work but hey, it’s all for a good cause.

  6. Wow! Your avatar is still in shorts? I’m wearing a fur-lined jacket up here!

    How are you anyway?

    Kat

  7. I have been a Cubs fan for a long time, too. Mark Grace is still my favorite baseball player! And yes he was a Diamondback and I was a Diamondback fan too, but I have disowned them, so I was really hoping the Cubs were going to give me a reason to root for them in the playoffs. I’m really bummed they lost. 😦
