Weather or not…

Something I’ve learned over the last 11 years of living in Colorado is how to gauge the weatherperson’s reports. Does “a chance of snow” mean it’s just going to be a dusting, or just make folks run out and stock up on milk?

Here’s the one I’ve been hearing this morning, and on last night’s weather report:

There’s snow coming for Thursday. We think it’s going to be significant, but won’t know until the weather system we’re following actually hits land. Stay tuned.

If they’re following a weather system in the Pacific, and it’s looking like significant snow four days out…  Um, maybe it’s just me, but I’m thinking I’d better stock up on milk.

  1. Milk, bread, soup, coffee, chocolate, and don’t forget the ear plugs.

  2. We’ve got rain in the forecast for Thursday, so if that’s the case, you’re probably going to get significant snow up there…lol!

  3. Snowing again here…I’m thinking powdered milk…for the duration. And lots of bleach, in case the water’s unpotable. Just joshing. I baked peanut butter bars for the squirrels and the birds today — I’m trying to keep them alive.

  4. After what we’ve been dealing with here, I would say it is time to go get milk. But, due to this being the heaviest winter (in snow amounts) since 1979, I might be a little cynical at this point.

  5. Can you imagine snow in 48 hours after the beautiful day we had today? I truly have a love/hate relationship with Colorado weather.
