Schmoozarific!

I used to think of myself as a pretty shy person, I guess more introverted than anything. I’d be in the background a bit in social situations until I got the feel of the place, then I would open up. I’m still like that, to a point, but am getting much better, thanks to the internet and especially the blogosphere. Today I met the lovely and charming Christina in real life, the first time I’ve met up with a fellow blogger. She is in real life as she is online, and delightfully fun. Thankfully she is also a mom of two boys (ahhh…the joys of boys) and didn’t hold my sons’ antics against me…I think. ; ) At least she didn’t run away screaming! LOL

Schmooze AwardAnd then, catching up on my blog reading, I saw that I was nominated for the Blogging Community Involvement Award, aka. The Power of Schmooze Award by Sarah at Unplug Your Kids. Yowza. A few notes on the Schmooze Award:

“As it goes, schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello – all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”

Wow. Thank you. Again, I never really had a penpal growing up, and have found the blogosphere to be a delightful substitute. I love reading new blogs, I love leaving comments (even though I may not because my brain has passed beyond being coherent that day), I love the community that has created itself. So I’ll add this to my small (but hopefully growing) list of “things that make me feel good about myself.”

And now I’ll share the love:

Karin at Heartsongs. Even with a crappy heart scare, she hangs in there. And it’s August in Phoenix, when you just want to fall into a cave and stay there ’til November.

Robin at Around the Island. Always has a great comment.

Hula Doula. And she’s a fellow Coloradan, at that!

Ms. Congeniality. More goodness here.

Feel free to take this and pass it on, or not.
